A mama bear was in distress when her cub fell from a railway bridge, plummeting into the river below.
The two bears were walking along the bridge when the cub slipped into the Pequabuck River in the village of Terryville in Plymouth, Connecticut. A family nearby was filming the bears when they caught the drama on camera.
First, the mama bear paced about, trying to figure out the best way to save her baby. She then ran down to the river, jumped in, and pulled her cub onto the bank. However, the cub fell back in, forcing its mom to try again. Happily, she was successful this time, and mom and cub were later seen wandering back into the forest, apparently none the worse for their ordeal.
Watch a mama bear spring into action to save her cub from drowning.
